These viols are made in the style of the original makers with a 5 or 7 piece “bent front” of spruce; back, ribs and neck of flamed sycamore with an open scroll and double purfling on front and back, ebony veneered fingerboard and tailpiece, finished with oil varnish and fitted with ebony pegs. The Collichons are made with only a single purfling line on the front as was original. Also possible are carved figure heads and decorative carving on pegboxes and scrolls by Suse Kuster. I can also do some additional simple decorative purfling work, based on original designs. Other woods such as walnut and cherry are available. My instruments are covered by a lifetime warranty to the original owner on all materials and technical aspects which can be described to be the maker’s responsibility.
